tonight, after saying my goodbyes to J's parents after his birthday dinner, I walked out to the car to clean it off.

After 3 inches of snow, we had clear skies, wind-driven clouds scudding across a near-full moon. The moon itself made everything glow that blue-white beauty, heavily-laden cedar trees and naked birch reaching for her...and my footprints the first to touch the snows. I still get the same sense of awe, and wonder, and that touch of ecstatic joy, after all these years.

Of course, we saw 2 cars off the road not 5 minutes from there, and the snows are coming down fast and furious, and we still have laundry to do at the laundro. But still.

I feel spoiled. :>

Mmmm. Smelled a bit like snow here last night. Maybe it was frost. Still, the moon was clear and lovely.
One day you’ll walk the world
and keep in mind
The heart you’ve been given
in winter time
And through the bitter cold,
with opened eyes
You’ll find the strength to fight
and stand upright
