C-ACE weekend, pt. 2.
Jun. 1st, 2003 09:34 pmWe picked up Brooke at 11:30 Saturday, and went and wandered. We ended up, of course, at the bead store. My mother was there with my brother Drew - we told her we'd have lunch and then head out to my grandparents. We ran into Wilda Cowell at the grocery store - she had her 3-week old son with her. SOOOOO cute. :) And her daughter is adorable. I'm a bit sad sometimes that I've not kept in contact with people like I had wanted to after going to university.
The sad little gaming store in Smiths Falls has NO D&D books and smells like 40 teenaged unwashed male gamers. Avoid at all costs.
We really all sorta fell asleep at Grandma's. Of course, Mom took Drew to work and got groceries and was in town for an hour, and then came home and talked on her cell phone for an hour. That gave me exactly 30 minutes to talk with her. We also didn't stay for dinner. :\ I hate it when that happens. Ah well. At least I saw her.
We kidnapped Brooke, and went back to Ottawa with her. We wandered to the food court in St. Laurent, and lo and behold there was Cathy again. So we had dinner with Cathy, and a very pleasant time. It was SO good to see old friends this weekend. Back to the hotel afterwards, and we had a good time just talking with Sandra and Janis. Janis was at the Yerf party until 1, and Amarafox sketched me a cute cute dragon with shiny things!! :)
And thank you Yscy!!! XD I have been planning a copper/water colour necklace with abalone for a couple of weeks now...and Yscy gave me the most gorgeous chunk of abalone shell!!! The coolest part was that she had no idea that I had been wanting to do this when she bought it for me. :) Yscy rules.
Um...random noise. GNAR!
Got up this morning, had a swim with J and J, and then we packed up and headed to the airport for the elf. Air Canada was apparently still running, so she's home ok. We then headed for Ikea with Sandra, who'd never been to one, and had lunch. A couple hours were easily killed between Ikea and Michaels, and then coffee and tarot at Chapters. Then it was to the airport a final time, letting Sandra off to her plane, and home to SF.
Note to drivers: I CANNOT navigate. Not at all. Don't ask me. We only got lost a few times anyway.
After all the adrenaline hyper ran out, I was exhausted. I just wanted to sleep. And I already miss people.
I hope Brooke had a good time. We gave Dad his birthday present early - a BBQ book - and then started the drive back to Peterborough. Dmn summer sun gives me headaches. >_< Ah well. Glad to be home with all my shinies. Gotta get pictures off the camera tommorow. Mmm. I have my orange vanilla candle burning in the bedroom.
This was an awesome weekend, and thanks to everyone involved!! I can't wait until next year. :)
