A Pledge of Allegiance to the Family Of Earth

I pledge allegiance to the Earth,
and to the flora, fauna
and human life that it supports,
one planet, indivisible,
with safe air, water, and soil,
economic justice, equal rights
and peace for all.

- Woman's Environment and Development Organization of the Women's Foreign Policy Council

VI. Myth of Return

White Lady of death,
lover carved of bone,
take me inside your stiff embrace.
Or will you appear as a bird or a snake,
perhaps a beautiful woman.

Lady with no eyes,
take this death
into your chrysalis belly,
The magic womb makes life
come again, in the rising
spring morning.

- Starr Goode

We Need A God Who Bleeds Now

we need a god who bleeds now
a god whose wounds are not
some small male vengeance
some pitiful concession to
humility
a desert swept with dryin
marrow in honour of the
lord

we need a god who bleeds
spreads her lunar vulva &
showers us in shades
of scarlet
thick and warm
like the breath of her
our mothers tearing
to let us in
this place breaks open
like our mothers bleeding

the planet is heaving
mourning our ignorance
the moon tugs the seas
to hold her/to hold her
embrace swelling hills/i am
not wounded i am bleeding
to life

we need a god who bleeds now
whose wounds are not
the end of anything

Wow. Those wounds are not the end of the god, but the end of a cycle. Which implies there is a hope of renewal. Rebirth.

That was an intruiging poem. Thank you for sharing all of them.

Wow, I locked onto the same lines that Gryvnos pointed out.

I never know how to respond to poetry, but that last one is amazing.

Very nice, I will have to remember that first one.
One day you’ll walk the world
and keep in mind
The heart you’ve been given
in winter time
And through the bitter cold,
with opened eyes
You’ll find the strength to fight
and stand upright
