I have no memory for this event. It doesn't mean that it didn't happen - obviously it did - but it apparently wasn't that important. Or it was bad enough that it's been forgotten. Huh.

Literally a blank spot in my mind.

Dirt Worship (or Not)

I like nature plenty fine, and I'm on pretty good terms with it. I like agricultural life. My own personal calendar is pretty deeply tied to the changing of the seasons and the cycles of agrarian efforts. I'm not hopeless in the wilder places on the planet.

Do those things make me 'nature-based"? Maybe. Does that make me 'earth-centered'? I don't know. In the end I still live a life fairly far removed from the toils of the field or forest, and I'm pretty fond of the technologies that make my life easier to live.

I don't feel like Wicca itself is "nature-based". It's based in fertility - which, while a part of nature, is just one specific part. We're not honouring nature as a whole - rather, just the fertility aspect of nature. We revere nature for the ways it shows us fertility...but that doesn't mean we're worshipping nature itself.

But not everything I do is Wicca. So maybe in some things I am actively a dirt-worshipper, and others I'm not. I don't know. I find the terms limiting, and not easy to apply evenly.
One day you’ll walk the world
and keep in mind
The heart you’ve been given
in winter time
And through the bitter cold,
with opened eyes
You’ll find the strength to fight
and stand upright
