What about cotton, or synthetic (most yarn today is made out of this stuff) acrylic and polyester? I've been working on a really big super fluffy blanket for myself and it's made out of this synthetic stuff. It feels very very soft and squishy. One day I want to make scarves, mitts, hats, blankets and wash/cleaning cloths for all my friends. ^^
I only use cotton for the wash cloths and for everything else my absolute favorite is the squishy polyester/acylic stuff.
Yup. I'm good with alternative yarns, for the most part. Cotton is good, as is alpaca wool and silks. My Jayne Cobb hat is made with alpaca.
Just as long as it isn't sheep wool or acrylic, I'm ok. I liked that particular sweater pattern because it's silk yarn with a stainless steel core. It just looked delicate and beautiful. I'd like it in red, but the yarn doesn't appear to come in that colour...or be readily available, even.
One day you’ll walk the world and keep in mind The heart you’ve been given in winter time And through the bitter cold, with opened eyes You’ll find the strength to fight and stand upright
