I made a post on a bulletin board I'm on, recently, that I thought I'd turn into a page for my website. It's all about shrines and altars. What accompanies it is a page of my my own personal shrines and altars, complete with pictures.

Now, my shrines don't stay static - I move things around, add stuff, change altar cloths, etc. as I need or want. But these are some pretty good photos of the way things are kept, generally.

Normally I'd filter this post [Pagan], but this is really pictures of the parts of my house that make it home for me; deeply personal. I'm happy to share this with everyone on my friends list, because this is part of what makes me, me.

http://www.witchscauldron.net/cauldron/shrinesaltars2.htm - there are lots of pictures, so dial-up users beware!

(P.S. - if you like the handmade altar icons I've got scattered around my space, and would like one for your own shrines, I do occasionally take commissions for them. ;>)

Even though I've seen a lot of these in person, I like reading your explanations of them.

I imagine to the majority of the people who come into my house, they're strange little collections of knicknacks all around the place. They're sorted by theme and colour, sure, but most people have no idea what they're all about. I never assume people are interested enough in them to go on about it all, when they're here - and so far few people have asked.

It was a nice little project to do. :)

Was the Aphrodite shrine in the living room before? I know there was something else besides the Hermes and Egyptians on the tables in there.

It wasn't ever in the living room, but I do have a big bowl of shells and a candle in there. I'm not sure what I've had in there at various times, to be honest - things move around.

Okay, I remembered the shells and the candle, but I wasn't certain if it was anything specific. :)

I always love to look at your special places. It always amazes me how they stand the test of time and kitties. Thank you for sharing.
One day you’ll walk the world
and keep in mind
The heart you’ve been given
in winter time
And through the bitter cold,
with opened eyes
You’ll find the strength to fight
and stand upright
