I was kickin' ass and takin' names today - at least, if you were a pile of dead leaves and dirt.

I cleaned up the rest of the yard, moved some yard furniture around, planted some seeds, hung up some new hangers and my lanterns, and generally felt very handy. Our upstairs neighbour was going to be rid of her lawn furniture, unless we wanted to use it, so we said we would. So we'll ahve a table, chairs, umbrella.

I am really looking forward to having a nice yard, lanterns lit and windchimes swinging softly in the breeze, this summer. I wish that it had more grass, but considering that last summer it was little more than an extension of the driveway, I'm happy. I hope we have friends come and enjoy it with us.

Welcome to Tinseltown - this flowerbed, in which I planted both nasturtium seed and wheat (yes, wheat), is decorated with some long strings of tinsel I recovered from the ground around the neighbourhood, and drinking straws. Didn't cost me a dime, is shiny.

The Scary Door - well, not really. Just my front step and the flowerbed. More nasturtium in that bed - the greens coming up are an orange lily that are quite nice when they blossom.

I didn't take a picture of the front, but there's more lily there, as well as our neighbour's transplanted rose bushes, and I put some more nasturtium in front of our bedroom window. If they do come up at all, it'll give us some nice shade in the afternoon.

Over the Fence - the fence, as it stands. I added the lower hangers to the posts today, for my windchimes in the back, and now the upper ones can hold my lanterns.

More Backyard - that's my kitchen window, with the big windchimes C. and R. gave me last summer. I was standing where the yard and the paved part of the driveway meets. I'm hoping our landlady will put some planter boxes across the opening there, and sort of block off the yard. I am also hoping we can have some grass seed to put down in the fall.

So, yeah - that's my big excitement right now. Yard work on a sunny day actually makes me happy - it's outside, and it's cleaning. It's a thoroughly Virgo sickness.

Will you be planting some grass in the side yard? =) The place is looking good and will only get better, I bet. Hope I can come around sometime this year.

well...when you've been here, it's been buried in 4 feet of snow and hidden behind the snowbanks from the driveway being cleared out. :p

looks like a nice start.

I heart working on my little postage stamp sized yard.. I only wish I had more time to do it (and motivation to get off of my ass)

I'd love to see more pictures once your plants start growing up

P.S. "The Scary Door"

<3 Futurama references.
One day you’ll walk the world
and keep in mind
The heart you’ve been given
in winter time
And through the bitter cold,
with opened eyes
You’ll find the strength to fight
and stand upright
