woo. what glorious fun. day three, no decent sleep before dawn. Got 3 hours the two previous nights. Today, I've gotten a whopping 4.5 hours. Sister Mary Sunshine I ain't.

My back is out. And when I say out, I mean "Elvis has left the building" out. It is just flat out angry with me, and the pain is not particularily tolerable anymore. Sitting up hurts today, which is new. Painkillers ahoy (well, more than normal, anyway).

If I seem like I'm a space cadet, or I can't spell, or I snark at someone - I'm sorry. My brain is starving and I can't feed it.

dunno about the sleep, but back pain i have waaay too much experience with.
try this. make, buy, get, steal a cotton fabric bag. big and flat, the size of a large manilla envelope.
sew three vertical seams down it.
fill it not quite full with rice
add one packet of an herb tea, or up to three (one per channel)
(sleepytime, from celestial seasonings is nice, so is tension tamer)
sew it closed

this is now a back heating pad. heat in microwave for a minute, take it out, shake it, place on back

if you need a cold pack keep it in the freezer.

you can also spray it with water before microwaving to get moiset heat.

also, try soaking large bath towels in scalding hot water, wring them out a LOT and place on back. repeat

Erf. That sucks. I haven't been getting quite enough sleep this week either. I'm all emotionally wonky from it.

I've got one that's full of unhulled oats, which works nicely cold or hot. I also make copious use of my hot water bottle. It isn't helping, sadly.

Sounds like a good sewing project, if I had a sewing machine. Or knew how to sew, really. ;)
One day you’ll walk the world
and keep in mind
The heart you’ve been given
in winter time
And through the bitter cold,
with opened eyes
You’ll find the strength to fight
and stand upright
