This is honestly one of the shallowest things I've ever seen them let through, and that is disheartening.
Why, exactly, did this get published? Oh, it's a teenager. They'll publish any old crap a teenager writes, even if it's seriouly fact-deficient. I think if it had been an adult, it might not have gotten in...which is sort of sad, given what the Witches' Voice will publish.
Who exactly, on Witchvox, needs to be told these things anymore? Hasn't this article been written by a bunch of other people, and better, many times now?
Who are these "People" she keeps talking about? I guess she doesn't know that one of the joys of sweeping generalizations is they gather so much crap in their sweep.
That’s what we Witches want. Acceptance.
Speak for yourself. I don't need anyone else's acceptance to practice what I choose, and in a lot of cases I don't want acceptance either. She seems to be a follower of Patricia Telesco's idealogy; personally I can't get behind it.
What we've got here is a 16 year old girl with an "online coven", who likes Charmed and reading Cate Tiernan books. She's obviously got a very romantic, half-education on what Wicca is; this wouldn't bother me so much if she wasn't calling herself a High Priestess and presuming to half-educate others. Ignorance is like an oil-slick; it spreads fast, sometimes catches fire, is hard to see through, and generally a pain to clean up. :\
I imagine if she sticks with it and manages to find some substance as she gets older she will be very embarrassed by having written this, and many other things, and put it out in public.
I don't have a lot of hope for that, though, since it seems she couldn't bother to read through even the basic information available on the site that published her 'article.
Some articles are merely dumb; this one backslides.
