Went to the hospital last night. The waiting room was awful - too bright, and the automatic door squeaked. People talking loudly...children squealing and shouting...ugh. Not a very nice place. An hour and a half there was enough. I was glad they called me.

Was really rather quick in the emerg. Saw a doctor relatively fast. Of course, the way they play with you to see if you have a migraine is to shine a fucking light in your eyes! >_< Asshole. I wanted to clock him. Nurses were good, tho. Went through all the stuff I've taken or tried for migraines...doctor spits out some name that sounds familiar. I say I think I've tried that, but he says it has a great success rate, and we'll give it a try. Great. Woo.

Stuff gets injected into my hip - OW. Apparently it's an anti-nauseant. I have to lie down for half an hour. It doesn't do much for my stomach, really, but my head - Oh my gods. It felt like someone had stuck my head in a metal band, was twisting it tighter, AND was sticking screws into my temples. So after half an hour the nurse comes back, I tell her this, and she nods.

Have I mentioned I hate doctors? I know they know stuff, but sometimes you'd think they know nothing at all. :\ And this guy was just...meh. So he asks if I'm driving, which I can't, so he nods and hooks me up with some painkillers. I'm going "Ok, this'll last an hour or two - I might get to sleep." Demerol generally doesn't do tons for me.

Apparently I've graduated to a new level of pain control. Lemme tell ya - morphine is NOT for the uninitiated. O_o Yes...they gave me morphine. The shot has my right arm all swollen. I came home, watched a little tv, started to get really stoned, and went to lie down in bed. I remember giggling a lot, being ferociously aroused, and then nothing. That was around 11:45.

I woke up today at 1:32 P.M. Talk about your comas. I don't think I'd want to have to have that type of painkiller in my bloodstream at all continuously, or for a long period of time. Wow. O_o I'm sitting here, uncertain of whether my migraine is gone, totally hazy and groggy. I hope my migraine is gone...I hope. But I don't know....

Meh!

I don't know if you've tried this already or not, but my doctor just put me on Axert for my migraines which sometimes last for days. And it works really well for me. within 20 minutes the pain just kinda melts away. You might want to look into that. It's expensive though. with insurance it's 30 bucks for 6 pills. Double that if you don't have any.

Well, getting to see my doctor is a problem, since I live 3 hours away from him, and doctors aren't taking new patients hardly at all. You have to book appointments 6 weeks in advance. I don't have a health plan to cover what OHIP doesn't, which means I pay all prescription costs, so that prescription would likely cost me over $100 CDN. And I've had a bad track record with migraine meds - there's currently 4 we know don't do much other than make my head hurt worse or make me sick.

I'm glad this one left without much fuss - I could have lived without it, and without the morphine, but at least it's gone.

The heart you’ve been given
in winter time
And through the bitter cold,
with opened eyes
You’ll find the strength to fight
