1. How old were you when the Morrigan made herself known to you?
Aah! I didn't know you were gonna ask me the hard questions first. :p
I was 15, almost 16 when she decided I was hers. At that point I had still not chosen any pantheon or particular Gods as something I felt kinship with. I was honouring the Lord and Lady, but quickly becoming disenfranchised with the notion that All Gods are One God.
Um...before The Morrigan chose me, I honestly knew little about her. I liked Celtic things, but I also liked Norse things and Roman things and Greek things, etc., etc. I'm very fond of mythology, history, and the like. Probably read far too much at a young age.
Becoming The Morrigan's daughter is a story I consider too private and almost too sacred to talk about. It is something I hold inside and keep in a special place.
2. If you could have any type of pet, money or housing not a concern, what would you want?
Ferrets!! Tons and tons and tons of ferrets. I lurve dem schtinky little mustelids. :) Also an African Pied Crow - they're the ones with the white feathers on the chest. And quite possibly a pack of hounds.
3. Of all the things you make, what is the most enjoyable for you to make?
That's tough to say. I enjoy the way colour flows when I'm paintng. I like finishing a piece of jewelry that is just right. One form of art or craft or another; doesn't seem to matter what. It all fills a desire to create beauty and give it out into the world.
I suppose if you're gonna be picky, it's singing. Whether I'm singing a high descant solo, working on my intonation and tone, or creating layers of harmony in a choir with others, music is something that never fails to move me. Good music, music that feels a need, raises the hair on my body and I feel like I'm floating. It's a form of divine union - almost as if I can express and let others hear and feel what touching the Gods is like for me.
4. Do you think you can ever like anime?
I think I could develop a tolerance for it - but like pornography, it has to be both well-done, and tasteful. I think I dislike the masses of anime fans more than the anime itself. Just some of it looks terrible, some of it sounds terrible, and some of it just has the world's stupidest plots. I enjoyed what I saw of Spirited Away, and I would like to finish watching it.I think my first exposure to anime was mostly awful because of who I was watching it with, tho.
And I secretly enjoy Cowboy Bebop immensely.
5. Of all the animals real or other, which is the most beautiful to you?
Damn. Also hard to answer. Most beautiful is something I can't honesty say. I feel that every animal has its' own beauty, its own special thing that makes me like them immensely...and while that's true, there are a few animals that hold a very particular beauty, or special meaning for me personally. I don't really want to put one animal as the paramount.
Horses are beautiful to me for their soft muzzles, their tremulous nostrils, the sweep of their tails, the flick of tapered ears, and their deep, dark eyes. Deer are lithe and swift, ghosts in the forest who every once in a while stop long enough to let me witness their presence. The sight of a buck in full rack on a frosty November morning is magical. Wolves on winter nights gave me many wonderful memories. Their eyes are older than they should be. Mm. Butterflies on migration in the fall. All the bright little jewel-tone birds at the feeder in winter. Hawks, osprey...foxes...the family dogs, cats...ferrets!...lots of animals have things I consider them beautiful for.
I lied. Predictably, crows and ravens have to be the most beautiful creatures for me. I love the way their feathers overlap and interlock. I love the subtle sheen, the iridescence that makes them a special sort of black. I love the way they laugh at everything. I love the way their cock their heads and floof their throat feathers. I love the way their tails move, and the way they glide from the trees and the rooftops. Sharp wicked bills, curving talons...mm. Yes. Corvids are the most beautiful.
As with all others like it, if you want me to interview you, ask and I will post some questions to you.
