I'm still painting Jeff's house. Been at it all weekend - it's starting to look really nice. But I'm also getting sick, and tired - so if I'm not around much this is why. I probably won't be online a whole lot until next week.
Sunday morning, after coming home from Bancroft, I dreamed. It was rather unusual...I can't tell whether my brain was just saturated with lack of sleep, stress, and listening to Jason and Jeff bitch about LARP, or what. Game didn't really happen for me, Saturday. I kinda wigged out and was in a lousy mood for it so I didn't play and spent most of my night wandering.
The dream starts - I am flying. I land on a cliff, overlooking a vast plain. Soon, a white dragon joins me. She is old...the colour has faded from her, rather than being her natural colour. But her eyes are intensely blue, and the colour bleeds into the scales around her eyes, as if they're glowing through the skin. She points out over the plain, showing me something...I don't know what I'm looking at, at first...but then I can see there are thousands of other dragons there, and they're all taking wing...they're leaving. I get the sense that they're gone for good. The one beside me flicks her tongue at me, tasting me for something. She drops a stone in my hand...a soft, white stone with a heart of blue. And then she takes off, and I'm alone in an empty place.
Next, I am walking across a very long walkway. It's on the plain that was below me, I think...it's very broad and flat, pale grasses, blue-white sky that is very severe in its lighting...I am heading, apparently, towards an airport. I need to leave this place - someone is chasing me. Someone wants something from me that I am not prepared to give. As I am hurrying along the walkway, I carelessly crash into a seller's booth - they are selling stones and crystals, along with other jewelry. I knock them all over, and in the process fall, losing the white stone in my hand. I look for it as I help them clean up their stand, but I do not find it. It is gone. Instead, I find a piece of carnelian, blood-red and warm to the touch. The woman who owns the stand puts it in my hand, tells me to keep it for strength in the times to come. I keep looking over my shoulder as I help the woman put her stand back in order, but finally my paranoia takes over, and I flee towards the airport. O_o
There is a fade...like a blackout, almost. When it ends, it is abrupt - and I am aware that I am pinned down under someone - someone who has hand their fangs in my torn and bloodied throat, someone who is pouring their blood into my mouth. I am filled with rage, sheer and utter red hatred, and kick this person away from me. I Change as I spring to my feet, becoming Wolf and Raven and Woman simultaneously, and I tower over this person. I can feel the blood burning through my system, but the pain only feeds my anger. I snarl a challenge at them, but they only stand there, sniggering. "It's already been done. It's too late. You're ours now".
And I have the oddest reaction. I laugh. I laugh until cry, and then I howl, when human laughter fails me. It is derisive, and mocking, and confuses my assailant. He is now joined by other vampires - an entire coven, a brood who I now understand were the ones chasing me. They wanted ME - not something I had. The stone was a protective device the dragon gave me - one that the jewelry seller replaced with a carnelian - a bloody beacon. Something about a prophecy. And as this unfolds in my head in a matter of seconds, I laugh.
The vampires think my mind has cracked under this. They warily attempt to lead me into their lair, since the sun is rising. I wipe the tears from my eyes, note that my throat has healed, that there is blood spattered all in my fine white fur. I simply look at them with bemusement.
I hear myself say "You don't know what you've done. Do you? You have no concept of what you have created - of what you have made of me."
They again come forward, insist sunrise is coming, standing in a darkened place where no sun will it them. I turn and watch as it rises, bright light spilling into the room through the window. I hear lions roaring in the distance as the red disk of the sun climbs into view. The vampires scuttle back into their lair, but watch, horrified, as I walk into the light.
And nothing happens. I don't burn, I don't blister. It doesn't kill me.
I raise my hands to the sky and howl again, greeting it, and then allow the male vampire to draw me down into their lair. The mingling scents of fear and awe are around me, and I laugh.
Cut scene again. I am now sitting at a banquet, a feast. I am not sitting at the big table - instead I am quietly sitting along a wall, not partaking. I am human again, wholly, and confused about this feast. Jason is standing beside me, and I mutter something about not wanting to eat, but being hungry. He is pale, as well - he might also be a vampire. He snaps at me; if I'm hungry I should have something and not complain about it. He walks away. I'm upset. I turn away from him, to walk out of the room...and see that everyone at the table has turned. They are all holding a vessel out to me, to drink from.
I am confused. The vampire who turned me explains that I am a sign. I am a Goddess, prophecied to come to this coven when the time was right. And all of these others would be honoured for me to drink from them - they would consider it a blessing. I am curious...and I stand before this assembly, and they fall to their knees as I Change, and spread my wings wide. I understand that this is perhaps a good thing for them, but perhaps not for me...that this was not meant to happen. But I am what I am, and I cannot change it.
The banquet fades. We are fighting - exactly what, I have no idea. We have no regard for human life around us, or care if they know what we are. We are superior. I am Changed - woman and wolf, rending things into fine bloody mists as I move at speeds no-one could hope to match. The carnelian pulses at my throat. Occasionally I will stop, and cast lightning from my hands, or engulf someone in blue flame, or entangle them in an eruption of living thorns.
We burst into the place we are fighting to claim - not sure why, but I think it holds something we need. One of the coven falls, her spine is broken, and she cannot heal it herself. I merely lay a hand upon her, and her spine begins to heal - she stops thrashing on the floor. I can see, in my mind's eye, that her bones are becoming normal...and then they continue to change, becoming enlongated. Spikes begin to jut from her back, gleaming spires of sharpened bone.
I hear someone say "It's not supposed to be that easy..." before I sweep out of the building again. I am towering over those outside, the eye of a terrible storm, blood and destruction all around me. I have magick, I have the ability to heal, I can shift my shape, and I am a vampire. I am a terrible Goddess. Another wave of people appear to oppose us, and I begin to wade through them, singing some black song that seems to rend the air around me. I hear the screaming around me, an anguished pitch that harmonizes with the song...
And I wake.
*blinks* I have no idea what any of this means, or if I'm just fried. Just had to get it all out.

Date: 2003-07-07 09:36 am (UTC)I once had a dream where a group of people told me that my arrival was prophecy and that I would appear when the time was right. The only detail I can remember about the dream was that I checked my wristwatch - even in dreams, it seems that I'm a smartass. :)
