Something that Make Me Feel Better
Um. I think it's situational. There's not too many things that universally make me feel better. But...candy's usually a good bet. Never outgrow some things. Ice cream is also higher on the list. Hot tub in winter, swimming pool in summer. Immersion in water is pretty good for me. An orgasm can fix a lot of things, too.
I also watch a lot of standup comedy. It's a decent reminder that there are people more bitter or jaded than me out there, and to laugh (at myself, even) once in a while.
Ethics
The ethics I was raised with are pretty much secular humanist: don't treat other people like shit, obey the laws of the land, know your right from wrong, take part in your community, help those less fortunate than you.
I've picked up my own ethics, as I've gone on. They're simple on the surface, but some people find them hard to live by.
1) Honour
I live on my honour. When I say I'm going to do something, I do it, unless it becomes absolutely impossible to keep that commitment. I keep oaths that I have made. I don't do things I don't think would stain or darken my honour - and I take responsibility for my actions, when I do things. I accept the consequences of the things I do and have done. I apologize when I am in the wrong, and make whatever reparations I can. I stand up for my friends, and the things I believe in.
2) Hospitality
I give the best I have, whether it's part of myself, or my household, to my guests and my friends. I want my home to be a welcome, healing place. I want my friends and family to know how much I respect them, and love them, and would do anything to give them comfort and warmth. Outside my home, I do my best to be a good guest, and to respect the hospitality given to me by others. Sometimes hospitality requires sacrifice. I'm ok with that - the idea of 'a gift for a gift' is important to me. I have been given a lot by many good people - it's my own duty and honour to repay it, or pay it forward.
I believe in justice. I try to be honest and loyal. I try to live with courage. I strive to be honourable. That is my ethical code.\
