[livejournal.com profile] moonvoice plucked these 7 for me:
Wild Hunt
The Hounds
Rock Crawling
Horn
Hawthorn
Cooking
Albinos

1) The Wild Hunt.
It's one of the things that pulled me to a pagan religion early on - the Hunter, his hounds and riders, all pounding away after their prey. It's not a happy fluffy idea, that's all sunshine and lollipops. It's visceral, and real - get too close and you'll be swept up in the chase. I think of it as one of the last untamed things - people are so concerned with making things cleaner, neater, safer, easier. I don't like that. I think I fall a little more on the hunter side of life myself, so it's not hard for me to feel love for the Hunt.

2)The Hounds.
A collective term, I guess, for all the hounds I love. Actual hunting hounds I've had in the family all my life. Cu sidhe, who walk with me a while from time to time. The hounds from the Wild Hunt. And the idea that I'm a hound of the Goddess.

3)Rock Crawling.
A term for someone who actively seeks out mineral samples. I am a total rockhound. I haven't been out looking for rocks in the wilderness in a long time, though. It's harder to do when you're stuck in urbanity.

4)Horn
I love horns. I'm not a horned critter myself, which is sad. I love the feeling of horn in my hand, and I enjoy beading with it when I can get it.
Long spirally horns instantly conjure up wildness for me. I married a goaty little man, even. I *love* his horns. -ahem- ^_^;;

5)Hawthorn
I love most trees, but there's only two I really have a relationship with: hawthorn, and blackthorn. Both are stubborn, thorny trees. They also have a relationship with one another - hawthorn stangs were used for healing magic, and blackthorn for cursing. Hawthorn is a fiery plant, and burns very hot. It's good for protective magic. They guard sacred wells, and offerings are left in their branches. During the bright half of the year Hawthorn is my plant ally, and during the dark half Blackthorn takes its' place.

6)Cooking.
I love to cook. Comes honestly - my parents are both excellent cooks, and taught me how to cook when I was younger. I think of it as a survival skill.
I cook fairly well, or so I'm told. I am lucky enough to know what goes with what, and lots of techniques for cooking, so I can usually invent my own dishes, play with existing ones. Recipes are launching pads. Baking is trickier. because the formula is pretty much set for a reason, but you learn what variables in the formula can change and what can't. My Dad thinks I should be running a catering business. Me, I'm just happy feeding my friends and chosen family. It's sort of ironic, because I'm pretty much indifferent to eating at this point.

7)Albinos.
Blame Michael Moorcock for this one, mostly. Elric of Melinboné entered my life when I was 9, and hasn't left. I've always been fascinated by albinos, especially albino animals. I think of them as messengers of spirit. I know there's varying types of albinism out there, too, and some of them aren't the stark-white kind. I'm practically albino myself. :p

One day you’ll walk the world
and keep in mind
The heart you’ve been given
in winter time
And through the bitter cold,
with opened eyes
You’ll find the strength to fight
and stand upright
