Eggplants. Funny poisonous looking things, fat and waddly. Incredibly bitter. No known nutritional value. Needs a lot of treatment to be palatable, and still no-one wants to eat it.

They're great in stir fries and pad thai.
I would say they're almost like zucchini because they also tend to adopt the flavor of whatever they've been cooking in.
I love eggplant and they're beautiful.

Date: 2008-05-14 02:34 am (UTC)I say bitter because eggplants are part of the nightshade family, and there's alkaloids in them that create a bitter flavour. I'm extremely sensitive to bitter tastes - I have that weird gene that makes you a supertaster for bitter - other people will eat the same thing as me, and
it will not taste like anything to them.
