So yeah, I'm home, if my last post didn't make that apparent. I was at my mother's home visiting all last week.

  • Day One: Saturday the 26th
Arrived in Smiths Falls mid-afternoon. J and I had rented a car, after we told Mom it cost the same to get a car for the weekend as it did for a return ticket for one adult person. Was very cool. I had originally planned to only go home for the weekend to visit my best friend for her birthday, cleanse her apartment for her, and then head home again. I spent most of the day calling around looking for people, and talking to my brothers. We didn't find Brooke until about 9 at night, but we did spend the rest of the night talking, playing cards with her and Eric, and generally enjoying each other's company until Brooke just about fell asleep in her cards. Visited Dad briefly, and made a decision to avoid the house in town due to some current issues going on. I also discovered that my cat didn't recognize me, I like having a dog around, just not Rosie, and that I missed my pillows. We also saw a lil' red fox in the treeline coming home from town! So cute. :)

  • Day Two: Sunday the 27th.
Met Mom in town later, after she had coffee with my Aunt Nancy. We went to the bead store and spent too much money - I had volunteered to restring a necklace she bought in the Dominican republic. Beads are awesome, tho. I had brought with me about 21 pendants needed a necklace to hang from, so I did a LOT of beading when I was away. We picked up lasagna and a cake, and then Jason and I went in later and picked up Brooke. We had a birthday dinner for her, which I think really made her feel better than she had been, and watched Stephanie run around like a maniac. What a kid! I like her. I decided I was staying for the week, so Jason drove Brooke home, and then drove himself home to Peterborough. *sniffle* I missed him ALL week. It's amazing how you get so used to having a warm body beside you.

  • Day Three: Monday the 28th
Mom got the car fixed. Spent some time in town with her and my Grandparents. Watched weather system move in over the river, and knew it was gonna snow later in the week. I really do miss how open the sky is in Smiths Falls. It's not the same here. Was a quiet day. Established the pattern of insanity in the house: Grandma makes Grandpa nuts. Grandpa for his part makes Grandma nuts. Grandma makes Mom nuts. Mom makes Drew nuts. Drew makes Brian nuts. Brian makes Mom nuts. Mom makes Grandma nuts. The wheel is ever spinning in that house....

  • Day Four: Tuesday the 29th
Went to Merrickville and looked at crafty knicknacks. Picked the boys up after school, shook my head at my cousin Bradley, and generally had a quiet day, again. I wanted to go for walks, but it was wet and cool and damp, and my arthritis was killing me. I never did get out for one all week. :( Mom also managed to get a cold, and was dead Tuesday night.

  • Day Five: Wednesday the 30th
We went to Ottawa early in the morning to see my brother. Spent too much time in Michael's looking at Yule decorations, and more beads. Came out with bead bead beads and some new things for the tree - a couple little white birds, some new ribbon that's very cool, and some cardboard boxes to be painted for something. We saw Greg, went grocery shopping in his huge store, had lunch at the Lone Star, and then headed home. His house looks nice with new paint, and he had some pretty wicked hair going on his bus pass picture. He did cut it, tho, before I got there. I'm glad he's enjoying his school, finally. About this time I was sore and tired, really bone-deep weary, and really wished I was at home sleeping in my own bed with Jason. I missed him lots. I started having problems sleeping, and started making 4-5 necklaces at night until I was exhausted enough to fall asleep.

  • Day Six: Thursday the 31st (Hallowe'en!)
Nothing special here. Wore my best 'Ween Slacker' look, and looked after Steph for the afternoon while Brooke and Eric did some running around. We then all had a nap, until Eric left to go see his kids before work. Brooke and I ended up talking, playing with Steph, and eating pizza before I headed home.

  • Day Seven: Friday the 1st
REALLY wanted to be at home by now. Only left the house to go to the bank, and get the boys - spent some time at the mall looking for a candle holder, but didn't find any I liked. More pizza for dinner, and then a very bored night of necklaces and pacing and insomnia. Argh! >_<
But I did get to see a very nice buck hop over the fence across the road. It snowed.

  • Day Eight: Saturday the 2nd
More snow! Jason went to Orillia to get the new car today - '89 Cutlass Cruiser wagon. He calls it the "Shaggin' Wagon". What a goof. :p Sophie jumped into the freezing river during her morning walk, for some reason, and came in soaking wet and bug-eyed. What a mutt! I spent the day at home - Grandparents were out, and only Drew was there. Mom was off with Brian practicing for his G2 Driver's test. I paced, listened to music...paced....I only had two necklaces left to finish, and they were done by 11 AM. Waited for J. I got so bored I took an old necklace apart and made it new. Jason arrived at the house around 10:20 P.M. We watched the end of "The World is Not Enough" - silly movie! - and then rummaged around town for food and juice. The sky was perfect and open and clear, and there was a fine snow everywhere. Shooting stars, and a faint white and green northern lights made the night magickal. The esthetic of our new vehicle isn't great, but it gets us where we're going, and we can spruce it up as we go. Slept curled up, back in pain, but cuddly and happy to have my Jason.

  • Ninth Day: Sunday the 3rd
By this day I felt as if I had hung like Odin, nine days on the tree of life. I'm not sure what wisdom I gained other than visiting Mom is stressful. I liked seeing everyone, but man - My diet was well out of whack, I wanted my own water and my own bed, and everyone in that house drives each other nuts. We hit Hershey's, said bye to Brooke and Eric, ate, and hit the road. It never felt so good to go home...but I'll still go visit. :)

Now I'm sitting here thinking about cable bills, making more crafty stuff, jewelry, orders online, going to the bank, Dark Ages Mage characters, incense and candles, Sabbat game Friday in Bowmanville, Samhain rituals in Richmond Hill on Saturday and all the in-between...no rest for the wicked, I suppose.

And HAPPY BIRTHDAY JASON! *kiss* Wuv you.
    -M.

One day you’ll walk the world
    and keep in mind
    The heart you’ve been given
    in winter time
    And through the bitter cold,
    with opened eyes
You’ll find the strength to fight
    and stand upright
