Sitting here with an ice pack pressed up against my head. My ear hurt so damn bad tonight I gave up and went to Emergency. In and out in 90 minutes, which was nice. It's an outer ear infection, just like when I was a kid...no more immersing my head in the bath, I guess. It is, though, making the left side of my jaw stiff and sore, and the ear itself is painful and swollen to the touch.

Took a lot of effort not to kick the emerg doc when he stuffed that damn plastic ear thing into my head, though. DAMN that hurt.

My ear drops are teh win, but teh suck as well. Their side effects? Ear pain, feeling of fullness in the ear, and irritability. Gee, thanks! I wasn't having those effects enough already. >_< Ah well. As long as the damn things work and I'm good in a couple of days I'll persevere with painkillers and icepacks.

Aaanyway...

Checked out the bead store in Barrie. Isn't too exciting, really...some pretty things, but not a huge selection - all John Bead stuff. The beads were all priced per bead, as well, and the only packages were mixed packs that were very overpriced. I picked up a few neat copper findings, and the nine beads I needed, and vamoosed.

I also got the stuff I needed for a medicine pouch for my covenmate C. I've stuffed it full of stones for healing, some specifically for cancer, and other for joy and love for her and her husband. My favorite stone in the bag is a flourite medicine bear. I did the pouch up with some blue glass, some quartz, a bear pendant, and a pair of silver spirals. I'll rig it up a simple strand of beads, and it's set so it can either be carried in a pocket, or worm/hung up by the strand. After that I'll smudge it and charge it up as hard as I can.

Mmm. I need to work on Tribe matrix soon. Also plan on finishing a beading project tommorow. It'd be easier if I could get to sleep. Gonna keep on numbing the ear. 'Night.

I live in Orillia, so I'm in Barrie every so often. :p

Earth and Sky is still there, and Bell, Book, and Candle is right next door to the bead store. I picked up a nice chunk of black amber for my covenmate there, and some of my favorite incense.

We don't know yet. The mass is in her colon, but it isn't cancer of the colon itself. We're still waiting for results etc. They'll probably know more when they take the tumour out.

How was the wind in downtown Toronto yesterday? It was pushing 60 km/hr at times, yesterday, and we damn near lost control of the car trying to not rear-end someone on the highway who had slowed down into a snowdrift going across the highway. There was a lot of drifting snow up here - so bad there was zero visibility, and police closed sections going south after we'd done it.

Makes me wonder about the wind between all those tall buildings.

The wind has been pretty severe the past two days. No snow around, but the wind seemed to be whipping the heat out of this house. I haven't been out for a few days, so I can't report what it was like to be out in.

*nodsnods* I'm sort of glad to be underground. I love the way wind that high can shake a house and rattle windows, etc, but my cats think the end of the world is nigh when that happens. Down here they're pretty copacetic unless there's really heavy rain and thunder going on with the wind.

Glad to hear you braved the dreaded Hpital, not so glad to hear that it must have been a lot of pain to drive you there. :( At least you'll have a chance of knocking out the infection soonish. I had ear infections all the time as a kiddo, to the point of having drainage plugs in and out all the time. No wonder I'm going deaf. Sorry to hear the bead store wasn't up to snuff... did you hop into Bell/Book/Candle? Anything good in there... haven't been for months.
I have been sorry to hear about your covenmate... recently, on one of my lists, there has been some converstation regarding the pros/cons of sending energy to someone battling cancer... that it could "feed" the cancer and cause more problems than help. Thoughts?

Bell/Book/Candle has some nice amber in there right now, and a good stock of books. I really want amber right now, for some reason. I also picked up some more of that Hem 'Forest' incense you got me addicted to. :p

Re: Cancer - I am of mixed minds on cancer. To me, it's something that I can happily
eradicate, but it's also a tricky beast because in essence it's a corruption, and they're hard to fight.

I don't focus persay on blasting the cancer to bits, but rather encouraging a strengthening
of what isn't already cancerous - lots of energy, lots of joy and love, lots of strength. Instead of feeding the negativity of the cancer, I strengthen the positive in the rest of the body and spirit.

The power of positive thinking is a serious consideration too. I survived a mildish (if any cancer can be) case of highly curable cancer, and even though I had faith in the medical treatment, I know I could have used a boost of courage, strenght and joy. The worst part is not knowing and waiting for results. The concern of the person on my list was that any energy that was sent her way could somehow be misaligned and used by the cancer instead. I just don't like the idea that illnesses such as this are actually "lessons" to be learned... yeah, it's much easier to learn when one's life is on the line. *humph*

I swear by HP for ear infections... just lay on your side and pour a capful in the infected ear. It will bubble and sizzle, but not hurt at all. It may itch a bit, but it is a guaranteed cure for the "outer" ear infections. Best of luck and I really hope you get well soon.

Oh... hyrdogen peroxide. >_< Everytime I went swimming in a lake, as a kid, my Mom would pour it in my ears when we got home. I still got ear infections almost every time. I'd say I'm prone to them, except I haven't had one since I was about 16. I think I managed to earn this one soaking my bones in the bath.

The eardrops I got last night are antibiotic and anti-inflammatory, and they're working well at the moment. I just wish the doses weren't 12 hours apart...after about 8 it really starts aching again. But I am noticing a difference, and am hoping it'll be cleared up in a couple of days. :)

Next time they get oogy, though, I'll try the HP before it gets more than gunky in there. Mebbe it'll help stave it off.

My mom made us take alcohol after swimming (and now looking back at the filth in some of those waters, I'm kinda glad), which was not as pleasant as hydro peroxide. I first heard of using HP after I had a severe ear infection that proceeded to vertigo back when I first started college. I woke up to find the room in a blender, all spinning around me and then I was instantly, uncontrollably and very violently sick... it took several hours of agony to find the strength to go to the doctor. But with three days of HP and I was fine. Now I treat the ears with it about once every six months as a preventive. And I don't go swimming in anything but clayhole lakes (with perfect spring water)!
