You know, Morg, if no one does, that this part of the song in particular refers to Tolkien's epic. And that "the West" therefore means Valinor. Led Zep was greatly impressed by LoTR. Several songs have Tolkienesque references. As cliched as it might sound, I have deep feelings for this song's sentiments too.

I had assumed most people understood what they were talking about, given that my friends are generally intelligent and well-read.
