Psychadelic Summer Pies of Doom
Jul. 12th, 2006 11:19 amYou need:
1 can of sweetened condensed milk, room temp
1 tub of Cool Whip (the big one, not a mini one), softened
1 graham pie crust
1 package of Kool-Aid (strawberry, lime, and orange work best for us, but feel free to experiment with what you can find - lemon would also work, and anything blue is fun just for the colour)
Open up the pie crust and make sure you save the lid.
Open your can of condensed milk into a big mixing bowl. Dump your package of Kool-Aid on top of it. Whisk this together until it is mostly or fully dissolved. Then take half your Cool Whip (s'why it's gotta be softened) and whisk it all together until it's a smooth candy-coloured nightmare.
Pour this into the pie crust, and smooth it out with a spatula. Put ALL of the contents of the bowl into the crust before you try to smooth it out, otherwise you'll end up lifting up the crust and ruining it.
Smooth the remaining Cool Whip over the top of the candy-coloured nightmare, concealing it completely. Place the lid over the pie and seal it up. It now goes in the fridge for several hours before eating, or it can be stored in the freezer for up to two weeks.
Kids of any age love these pies. Any time you can feed them something that's little more than sugar and food colouring, they're going to love you.
