It's lovely out today. It's clear and crisp, bit of a breeze, and the trees are mostly bare with some nice gold left. I always think of November as a study in grey and gold...golden bare fields, bare trees, golden tatters of leaves...so this is a nice way to start the month. Today is (was, now) a day for yard work, and perhaps a walk.

I cleared the flowerbeds and raked the leaves up, so the yard's pretty clean. There's nasturtium seeds everywhere on the ground, tho...I collected a lot to plant where we end up living after we move, but there's still hundreds embedded in the soil. Crazy plants self-seed, too. O_o They'd started taking root in the walls of the house.

I also cleared a space in the garage for the neighbour's stuff on the porch and left them a note about it being garbage day. As it turns out, they just didn't know what day garbage went out, and kept missing it. So the porch should be mostly cleaned up by tommorow. Much happy-making for me.

I would kill someone right now for one of those huge bags of Child's Play mix they sell for Hallowe'en...the one with all the Tootsie Rolls in it. Mmmm addicted to that stuff. I have a really good craving for cheap Hallowe'en candy now. We'll see what we can do about it.

Ok. I'm off to sweep floors and generally relax for the rest of the day.

One day you’ll walk the world
and keep in mind
The heart you’ve been given
in winter time
And through the bitter cold,
with opened eyes
You’ll find the strength to fight
and stand upright
