I can't practice my religion in my own bedroom anymore. That's where my space is set up, and it's the best place for it...but all bloody day and night my upstairs neighbour plays her music loudly in the front bedroom. If she could play it in any other room, I'd be quite happy, seeing as I can't hear it much anywhere else, or I don't work in other parts of the house. But no....it has to be right over my damn bed.
I can't work with that going on. I need silence, or a relative version thereof, to teach my students on Thursdays, to meditate, to scry, to perform ritual, to work. Muffled techno bass beats do not help me achieve anything. I want to connect with Persephone tonight, or maybe SLEEP, but I don't think I'm going to have much of a chance. I'm thinking sleep might be the best, because I have deep green-black circles under my eyes from not, but it's nigh impossible at times.
These people are nicer than the previous neighbours, but they're 10x louder (which I'd have thought impossible), they have 3 weeks of garbage rotting on the porch (which the animals in the neighbourhood just love), and I'm sorry to say they're just plain f-ing trashy. There's nothing quite like working through garbage, bookcase parts, and a set of TV trays to get your mail. :\ I have asked them to keep it down a couple of times already, but as far as they're concerned they are being as quiet as they can be, and I will just have to deal with it.
So frustrated. I just want to bloody meditate in peace!

Date: 2004-10-31 07:34 pm (UTC)The last people who were here never respected that - they'd leave the light on all night, smoke into the windows, drink out there until all hours, or sit at their porch table right at our window and stare in. It was obnoxious, especially given that the person who was at home the most was a snotty 16-yr old hockey slut.
The new tenants ARE nicer. They talk to me, they don't leave me messages on the phone telling me my cats stink, they don't stomp on the floor because the house is out of hot water and it's obviously my fault (despite being only one person vs. their 4 daily showers). They don't have a dog that attacks people viciously, or shits on the driveway and never gets picked up after (no dog at all, in fact). And they don't have drunken fights on the porch outside my window, or smoke into it even though I've asked them not to. I'm irked about a few things, but they're really just better people.
I can't say whether or not the landlord will get involved, as they were here to pick up rent Friday and didn't do anything about it then. They just really don't care, since they're really only property maintenance people. The landlord themselves is a corporation, in Toronto.
I'm going to leave them another note telling them that garbage night is tommorow night, when I do my housework in the morning, and hope that they get the hint.
