Behold - I am the Queen of Misrule! *chuckles* I found the token in my Yule Log last night. Fortunetely, it only means I have to bring the Yule Log next year, and not that I will be sacrificed at the end of 12 days of feasting and nonsense. :p I got loads of excellent blessings and toasts last night, and for some reason in return I offered the hope that Raven touch everyone's lives. O_o Poor souls. I'm still not sure if that's a blessing or a curse. Heh.

So yes. I am Queen of Misrule for the year. Wheeeeeee. :p May you all have healthy, prosperous, and adventurous fun in the year to come. :)

I also volunteered to do the Imbolg ritual this year. I'm uncertain, but that's ok! I need to do this, I think. I have a beautiful Bríd invocation, and a rough outline already, and I think I can do this. I have shiny altar things too....Should be interesting, at any rate. :)

Mm. Gotta wrap a couple last things today, for Bancroft, and sort out my jewelry shiny bits.

So what are your official duties besides the yule log? Do you misrule the other pagans? Why would they want someone to misrule them? There are so many things I don't understand...

I personally assume the term "misrule" comes from the fact that the "King of Misrule" had no responsibilty to do anything but please themselves. Along with the fact that it was originally Roman slaves who were chosen for the position, "misrule" may also refer to the fact that the "King" has no actual bloodright or lineage to such.

As for my own "term" as the Queen of Misrule? I don't honestly know. I'm sure we'll find something for me to do, other than bring the cake. Perhaps it will simply be to promote merriment through the year. Last night was a good time, at least. Maybe I'll get to do something at April Fools'.

It's a ritual done to celebrate the Sabbat of Imbolg. Check out the post on my ezboard under The Wheel of the Year.

One day you’ll walk the world
and keep in mind
The heart you’ve been given
in winter time
And through the bitter cold,
with opened eyes
You’ll find the strength to fight
and stand upright
