New moon today. Last one of the year, in fact. The time between today and Samhain (whenever you celebrate it) is an odd gap. It's not the old year, and it's not the new year yet either...it's No-Time, and the Veil is very thin.

I have this feeling...something is going to happen. I also have this sense that this will be a long, harsh winter, although I don't know why yet. I haven't had any of my usual October nonsense happen here - no random spirits, no visits from that certain girl, nothing. Of course, that's likely because I warded the house waaaay back around the 8th of the month, and I warded it good. I just wasn't in the mood to deal with being haunted. I wonder if that'll continue.

I need to brave the frosty night and go out into the park, I think. I haven't heard the Hunt calling yet, or the horns or the hounds...I think I need to go wait out in the trees and see if they ride.

Light a candle tonight...light it against the long, dark night we're moving into. Light it for the dead year behind us, and light it for the grey space we hang in until the year's reborn. Light a candle tonight, if you can.
